We work together to educate youth to create a culture of caring and compassion to make service part of their DNA as we take care of each other.
How can I get involved?
The North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry is always delighted to have volunteers work on behalf of our organization. There are several ways to get involved.
Transportation Team
The Transportation Team transports the loaded grocery bags from the packing site at Temple Beth Hillel to the food distribution site at First Christian Church. Transportation Teams pickup Fridays at 4:00pm. The entire process of transporting 150 to 200 pre-packed bags takes about one hour. Bags are transported in Pantry owned vehicles. You must drive yourself between Temple Beth Hillel and First Christian Church. Sign up to help out here:
Packing Team
The Packing Team fills the bags and sorts them in the basement of Temple Beth Hillel. Sign up to help out here:
Sack Lunches Team
The Sack Lunches Team makes sack lunches at home and delivers them to the First Christian Church. Sign up to help out here:
Pet Food Kit Team
The Pet Food Kit Team makes pet food kits for hungry dogs and cats at home and delivers them to the First Christian Church. Sign up to help out here:

Bagel Brigade
The Bagel Brigade is sponsored by B'NAI B'RITH of the Greater San Fernando Valley. Teams pick up leftover bread and baked goods from Valley bakeries, stores and Costco and deliver them to our distribution site at First Christian Church on Monday and Friday mornings. If you are interested in volunteering for the Bagel Brigade, please contact Frank Shapiro at (818) 522-0832.
School Partnerships
We currently work with several private and public schools within our greater community. We’re happy to help organize drives or other ways to make a difference. Please email us with contact information and we’ll be in touch.
Food Forward
Food Forward staff and volunteers rescue 353,000 pounds of surplus produce each week from fruit trees, farmers markets and the Los Angeles Wholesale Produce Market. 100% of these fresh fruits and vegetables are donated to over 575 hunger relief agencies across 8 counties in Southern California of which the NHIFP is a partner and recipient. NOTE: Currently, If you wish to donate fruit from trees in your yard, please bring directly to our distribution site at First Christian Church, Monday or Friday 7:30 – 11:00am.
